*Match report*
4th wru bowl fixture fourth win-
The Ynysowen squad were more than less at full strength for the fourth game of the season and it showed on the pitch as they out scored there rivals 7 tries to 2. To score 7 tries against a team that normally plays in a league above shows how much this team has come on and continues to grow.
Deri in fairness to them put up a good spirited fight but were struggling for players in their back line but there pack was more than less first choice. In the first 20 minutes Ynysowen blew their opponents away with 3 quick tries playing some lovely open rugby. The next 20 were even with Deri running hard with ball in hand and distrubting the ruck area. When ever Deri did get clean fast ball the Ynysowen defence was straight at them stopping them from getting over the gainline ( bar the odd missed tackle on there number 8 ). Ynysowen was clearly the better team and went in at half time 17-5 up.
Even though the score board looked good at half time the Ynyowen coaches had a fair bit to say at half time as they and the crowd could see from the side line that silly mistakes and too much confidence was creeping in. As soon as the second half kicked off the clear message was there to be seen to get the ball to the outside channels and let the ball do the work. During the seconf half Ynysowen played some lovely off loading rugby and were doing as they were told by getting the ball to the outside channels as that is were Deri was struggling. Ynys where again the faster and the fresher of the two teams and scored 4 tries in the second half which aloud Ynys to bring on the entire bench on for some valuable game time with 25 mins to spare. A specially mention goes to Rhys Williams who scored 4 tries. For two of his tries he was at the end of two good free flowing moves the other two tries in all fairness he had to work hard for and he scored them both well.
Coaches view- Very good result in the end if you look at the score board. Lots of positives to take from the game especially in defence and attack. We need to remember though let the ball do the work. We need to keep to the game plan execute well and then the rest will look after itself. The pack were solid and showed some lovely touches in attack to keep the game moving. The backline played well with ball in hand especially in the second half and identified well where the space was. Rugby is not a hard game when you break it down yes its a physical game but the game can be made so much easier by just identifing space and executing it well. Being a realsist this game could have been won by 60+ points but we made it hard for ourselves by not letting the ball do the work. Plus having 2 yellow cards did not help both for silly offences.
The boys would like to thank the committee members and volunteers who helped throughout the day to get the kit ready, run the water on, cover the first aid, run the touch line and collect the kit at the end. We boys appreicate the effort you guys put in.
After the first block of games we are 4 from 4
At the moment next week there is no game but we are looking to have a friendly match or atleast have a social gathering of all the players. Watch this space.
