FULL TIME

YNYSOWEN 15- 14 LLANDAFF NORTH

A big win away from home for The Sharks with a mix and match team taking to the pitch.
A massive effort from 1 to 18 and a proper backs against the wall performance. With the game the previous week against Treherbet being abandened after 30 minutes and with no training the week leading up to this match the game plus poor numbers in training pre and post Christmas this was always going to be a difficult banana skin of a game.

First half Ynysowen played some great rugby in windy conditions and after attack after attack we took the lead with a penalty by Young Adam Pyke.
0-3 to us.
Mid way through the first half a well worked lineout drive saw Alan Davies power his way over from 10 yards out 😉.
10-0 to the visitors.
It was then nip and tuck right to half time both teams going at it full force but not giving away much ground.
                                                                              HALF TIME SCORE 0-10

Straight from kick off Ynysowen gave up possession and conceded a try under the posts to make the score 10-7.
Now the Fun started as the Referee gave 3 yellow cards to Ynysowen and 2 to The North in a crazy 20 minutes of rugby 🤣🤣 that you would only find in the lower leagues of welsh rugby

Ynysowen being down to 12 men at one stage scored the next points with a well worked lineout move try from Neil Jones who is known to most as Savage and Alan Davies who is know to most as Crazy Al. Alan used all his power and craziness to power over in the corner. The lineout worked well through out the game in all fairness but the scrum didnt function like it normally does. Both sides were giving it there all at scrum time with penalities being awarded to the opposite team at nearly every scrum.
The score now 15-7 to Yyns with 20 minutes to go.

With a further 2 yellows cards to Ynysowen ( 5 in total for the day ) and a further 1 to The North ( 3 ) the game was getting a little out of control but the ref dealt with things by issueing cards. Things did calm down after the cards were issued and both teams kept on putting their bodies on the line and kept on trying to play expansive rugby. The game was very open and a massive team defensive effort off The Sharks kept the score the same. The boys must have put in about 60 tackles within the final 15 minute period, they worked tirelessly in defense until the final play of the game in which North finally got themselves over the line and scored from close range.

Final score Ynysowen 15 - 14 Llandaff North

Ynysowen go again next week where we welcome the top of the league Llandaff RFC to The Willows for a 2.30 ko. Llandaff are flying very high at the moment and look like the team in control of the league. Can we do it we shall see. Massive and intense week of preparation ahead.

Training this week is in Afon Taff School Tuesday 6.30 - 8  and Wednesday 6.30 - 8 on The Willows. New and old players welcome.
