A big thank you from the club 22/23 season

On behalf of Chairman Iestyn Morgan and the committee of the club we would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all that have helped us as a club in what has been frankly a very strange, long and testing season.

To all the players who have put on the Ynysowen shirt this season, a huge thank you for contributing to a mixed results, competitive never ending season. The improvements are clear for everyone to see the clubs just needs to put a bit of consistency in place on and off the field which is always difficult to do and balance but we are getting there. Our senior team has put in some good and not so good performances throughout the campaign and their never say die attitude during games can never be questioned. In nearly all the teams losses this year the final score in each game was never more than two scores.

Our ever growing mini and junior section again have had an excellent year and all teams have proved great ambassadors for our club during their recent end of season tournaments, presentation evenings and tours.

Regarding the mini and junior section there is so many people to thank and we don’t want to single people out we would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone who spared some of their spare time for us. To all of the people who have helped out over the year, in whatever capacity, your efforts help to make the season work. The club would struggle to run without the help of parents who help out around the club.

None of the above credit would have been possible without the work of our committed coaches, team managers, first aiders and support staff most of whom give up their own time voluntarily. THANK YOU VERY MUCH GUYS THE CLUB APPREICATES IT. SAME AGAIN NEXT YEAR PLEASE AND THE YEAR AFTER.

To our members and supporters, once again we couldn’t have asked more of you. Your support and the loyalty you demonstrate on a weekly basis especially at home games is second to none. Thank you all. Sometimes it's madness sometimes it's chaotic on the side-lines but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Keep your support coming.

We introduced a past v present game this year into the calender and that was a major success with over 60 players participating. The game was played in Feburary sandwiched between two six nation games. The Willows was packed out and it was great to see so many families there enjoying the game and enjoying the after party. Long may this event continue.

Another tap on the back goes to our bar staff, cleaners and cooks that we have had throughout the season. You guys are very much essential and a valid group inside the Ynysowen RFC Family. Also not forgetting our club photgrapher Malcolm thank you very much. The effort that was put in by you guys during the past v present game was immense.

Finally, to the senior team committee and the mini and junior section committee who work tirelessly behind the scenes often receiving criticism rather than the plaudits they actually deserve. We thank you all. Credit where credit is due, you all do a sterling job at the club the evidence of which is the stable position in which we currently stand. Diolch yn fawr iawn.

Although we may all feel a little disappointed where we positioned in the league it’s important to remember that we’ve learnt some valuable lessons on and off the field. One of the great things about this sport is that there’s always room for improvement, we can all work on doing something just a little better. When everyone does that, the results can be amazing – and if there’s one thing we know about each and every one of you, it’s that there isn’t anyone who wouldn’t give their all for the club.

Look out next year as we plan to go again and become bigger and stronger on and off the field lets have it.                                      Bring on the 2023/24 season. yes

Last word comes direct from the Chairman of the club Iestyn Morgan.

"We have a special club and the foundations are definitely there to keep improving in all areas. We will get better, we will get stronger and we will keep growing, all because                                                                           "We are Ynys and that’s the way we like it".
